Savor the Salish 2026
March 1 - 7

Did you know the Salish Sea honors the Coast Salish people, a diverse collective of Indigenous nations whose heritage in the Pacific Northwest and inland Plateau stretches back over 10,000 years?

Spanning modern-day British Columbia, Washington, Idaho, and Montana, the name Salish translates to "People of the River" or "the great and mighty people." This title reflects a culture defined by a profound spiritual bond with the land—most notably through their sacred relationship with salmon and cedar, which have sustained their communities for millennia.
