About the Role

We are seeking an energetic, leadership-minded Front of House (FOH) Supervisor to join our team. This is a dynamic, working role where you will divide your time between leading peak service hours on the floor, working scheduled bartending or floor shifts, and collaborating closely with the Back of House (BOH) culinary team. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, you will also serve as his administrative right hand—assisting with FOH shift scheduling, managing labor targets, and overseeing bar inventory systems.
Key Responsibilities
Mission Advocacy & Guest Engagement
• Act as a passionate advocate for Bayside Housing & Services, taking a lead role in educating patrons on how their support of Spirits helps fund critical community housing and support programs.
• Train, mentor, and inspire FOH staff to proactively and proudly communicate our social mission table-side, ensuring a consistent message reaches our guests.
• Seamlessly connect our physical assets (such as our culinary gardens) to our broader philosophy of nourishment and care when engaging with customers.
Shift Leadership & Floor Operations
• Lead, motivate, and direct the FOH service team during demanding, high-volume lunch, dinner, and private event shifts.
• Actively work scheduled floor and bar shifts, demonstrating master-level service standards, cocktail execution, and side-work discipline.
• Manage opening and closing duties, maintaining pristine standards of property cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance.
• Lead energetic pre-shift huddles to align staff on daily kitchen features, bar specials, garden harvests, and mission-driven guest engagement goals.
Administrative Support & Collaboration
• Collaborate directly with the Executive Chef to build, review, and adjust weekly FOH labor schedules to hit target labor margins without sacrificing hospitality standards.
• Assist the Executive Chef with rigorous bar inventory counts, tracking product usage, managing waste logs, and generating beverage orders.
• Oversee daily cash controls, register till reconciliations, safe drops, and nightly building lockdown procedures.
• Maintain an open, positive, and collaborative line of communication with the BOH team to ensure kitchen ticket timing matches floor pacing flawlessly.
Requirements & Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a high-volume restaurant or bar setting, with previous shift-lead or hospitality leadership experience heavily preferred.
• Availability: Full-time status with a flexible schedule. Weekends, evenings, and holidays are strictly required as determined by business trends.
• Skills: Proficiency with modern POS systems, operational cash management, inventory math, and classical cocktail/beverage execution.
• Mission Alignment: A strong personal alignment with social enterprise models and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting community-centric housing and advocacy programs.
• Physical Requirements: Comfort standing, walking briskly, and carrying service trays for 8+ hours; ability to safely lift and move up to 40 lbs (cases of liquor, ice, or kegs).
• Certifications: Valid state-mandated food handlers card and alcohol server permit required prior to starting first shift.

About the Us

Spirits Bar & Grill operates with a distinct and powerful purpose. We are proud to directly support the mission of Bayside Housing & Services, an organization dedicated to providing safe, compassionate housing, advocacy, and wrap-around support services to individuals experiencing housing instability in our community. Spirits functions as a social enterprise; by patronizing our restaurant, guests are directly contributing to funding these critical community programs. Our beautiful on-site culinary gardens not only supply fresh, hyper-local ingredients to our kitchen and bar, but they also serve as a physical symbol of our commitment to growth, nourishment, and community-wide care.

The Role of Mission Ambassador

Because Spirits functions as a vital bridge to Bayside Housing & Services, our front-of-house team has a responsibility that goes far beyond traditional food and beverage hospitality. As the FOH Supervisor, you are expected to be the chief Mission Ambassador on the dining room floor and at the bar. A core requirement of this role is connecting our guests to this larger purpose. You will ensure that every patron understands that their dining experience directly impacts the lives of vulnerable neighbors in our community. Whether answering menu questions or greeting regulars, you will weave this narrative seamlessly into service, transforming an ordinary meal or drink order into an act of meaningful community support. You will also coach and empower the service staff to articulate this connection confidently and with genuine pride.
