Garden Tour with our Garden Crew
Patrick Ryland
Patrick Ryland is proud to be a gardener for the transformative combo of hospitality and social help that is Bayside Housing and the Old Alcohol Plant Hotel. His background is in vegetable and fruit growing, but he appreciates flowers and ornamentals more and more with each passing year. His passions are ecology, soil fertility, and healthful, nutrient-dense local produce. He is most grateful for his many awesome coworkers on the Bayside/OAP team. If you hear high-pitched Celtic melodies around the grounds, don’t worry, it’s not ‘the little people’, it’s Patrick practicing the tin whistle on his lunch break.

Kira Mardikes
Kira Mardikes is a gardener and artist who loves growing food and flowers. She grew up in Portland, Oregon in a family of avid gardeners and had spent the past eight years working for farms and herbalists on the Peninsula. Her favorite veggies from the garden are Hokkurai turnips and fresh cucumbers! She loves harvesting and arranging bouquets with coworkers and volunteers and sharing food with the community here at the Inn and Bayside. She loves every season, the bed creation and seed selection in winter, the fresh neon greens of spring, the dusty yellowing of the earth and flashes of color in summer, to the last harvests and decaying oranges and reds of autumn.
