The Gallery @ OAP: Harold Nelson

Harold Nelson has some of his amazing work displayed now in The Gallery @ OAP until October 28th.

I spent 32 years of my life working as a U.S. civil servant, the last 17 years  in Washington DC. During that time I worked on art in isolation and except for a small photography show in California in 1983 did not exhibit any art to the public. From haunting the numerous art museums all those years in the DC area I was able to obtain a self-guided  education that has proved invaluable to my development as an artist. It was also serendipitous that just before I retired from my “day job” I met Maryland collage artist George Sakkal.   I took a class from George and tried to soak up, in the short time around him, all that he could teach me about his“painting with paper” approach to collage. In 2005 I retired from my life in the bureaucracy and moved to Port Townsend, Washington. I then was able to spend much more time working on art and submitted pieces to my first juried show in August 2008.
